Day 139: “Falling Slowly” – Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova

!!!ITALIAN!!!

A song that tells a story. The same song becomes part of another story. And part of a movie aswell.

Falling Slowly” belongs to the soundtrack of “Once“, movie released on 2007, about which an original and creative director as Steven Spielberg said “It gave me inspiration for the whole following year”.

The movie talks about music, love, and random meetings through the streets of Dublin of two artists, which made them realize an album together.

Which is exactly what happened in real life: Glen Hansard, singer and guitarist of the irish band The Frames started dating Marketa Irglova during the shooting of the movie. And as in the movie, that was an impossible love story, and after two years it has been announced that they were no more dating, becoming just friends.

But the Music remains: and here you can listen to the live version of “Falling Slowly” !!

Falling Slowly – Lyrics

I don’t know you
But I want you
All the more for that
Words fall through me
And always fool me
And I can’t react
And games that never amount
To more than they’re meant
Will play themselves out

Take this sinking boat and point it home
We’ve still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you have a choice
You’ll make it now

Falling slowly, eyes that know me
And I can’t go back
Moods that take me and erase me
And I’m painted black
You have suffered enough
And warred with yourself
It’s time that you won

Take this sinking boat and point it home
We’ve still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you have a choice

You’ve made it now
Falling slowly sing your melody
I’ll sing it loud
