Day 135: “The Extremist” – Joe Satriani
Today I suggest an instrumental song published in 1992 in the fourth studio album by Satriani, which is entitled The Extremist. This record is considered one of the best of this artist, whose solo production is constantly based on experimentation. As we know, Satriani’s compositions are characterized by a very high technical level together with a really refined sound; however, in live perfomances like this you can also feel his instinct as well as improvisation. I have chosen one of his songs also because I was thinking a few days ago that this guy influenced his collegues in a way you cannot ignore. Without Satriani, master of Steve Vai, Kirk Hammett and many many more, music would not be the same today. And then he is the G3 inventor!
